Let’s talk about facial hair. For some, growing facial hair is easy and natural. For others it’s the hardest thing since calculus. If you find yourself in the latter half, don’t worry just yet; there are plenty of celebrities that look great without it. Zac Efron, Ryan Gosling and Tom Cruise can all rock the clean shaven look and so can you.
Now let's say you have the ability to grow a full mustache and beard combo. Wearing this amount of facial hair is just like any other accessory, sometimes it looks good and sometimes it doesn’t. If you are curious about what you may look like with a full set of facial hair, just wait until No Shave November. Plenty of guys try each year to grow out what would normally be shaven off within a few days, and you’ll fit right in. If you’re feeling daring, just go for it. The worst that could happen is realizing it might not be the best for you and shaving it off when you get home.
Since we’re on the topic of successful beards, we will take a look at some opinions from students here at Emmaus. After some interviews and discussions, some of the fan favorites are as follows: Zayn Malik, Chris Evans, Mark Sloam and Jon Bellion. When asked why these were their favorites, a vast majority had a lot to discuss. It seemed to be common for both girls and guys to like the short stubbly beards opposed to a Dumbeldoresque flow. Guys agree that facial hair can make a face warmer in the colder months, but it also has the downside of being itchy from time to time. From a girl’s perspective, some like the way it looks and feels but others don’t, it’s all a matter of opinion. All in all it comes down to each person’s personal preference, but one thing everyone can agree on is that a patchy beard is a unattractive beard.
There is a very slim margin of people who can pull off a patchy beard. If you find yourself in the case of growing one, your best bet is either to shave and allow it to grow in better from the start or rock the clean shaven look. In addition to the fullness of the beard, color was a topic of discussion.
A majority of people said that darker colored facial hair is more desirable than ginger or blonde. With this being said, there are always exceptions to the rules, and some people with lighter color beards really have an amazing look to them. Now you may be wondering, what if my beard and mustache are a different color than my hair? Then what? In this case, most people said as long as the color difference isn’t something crazy like blonde to black, then you’re fine. If you have a magnificent set of facial hair, then nobody will be too worried about the slight color difference.
Well there you have it, everything you need to know about facial hair. If you’re ever doubting how yours looks just ask a friend’s honest opinion, and you will get a better answer than I can describe in this article. And if you really dig your facial hair and someone tries to drag your style, just let it brush past your awesome facial features and continue to do you, because everyone knows that confidence is the best accessory (along with a bangin’ beard). Until next time, go loud, go proud and we’ll talk again soon.
