Now, please don’t kill me when I say this, but we don’t live in LA. And contrary to popular belief, the Lehigh Valley actually offers a lot more than we give it credit for. Living in the suburbs, we have the convenience of living close to people and malls but also being exposed to nature and quietness. The excitement of transitioning between seasons can often lead to new beginnings, whether that be in relationships or hobbies. In the spirit of Homecoming, we’re going to focus on budding romances. Have you ever wanted to hang out with someone you like but you just couldn’t figure out what to do? Think no further! Here we have a great, fun list of flirty date ideas for you and your crush:
Visit Grim’s Orchard in Breinigsville for pumpkin and apple picking! You can even follow up with a jack-o-lantern carving and pie baking sesh afterward. If you’re a kitchen-dancer, I highly recommend the Walking On Sunshine Pandora station.
Netflix night- Halloweentown marathon. Need I say more?
Big test coming up in your English class? Perfect! Studies show there’s a high success rate using the “study date” excuse... *wink wink* Ask him to grab coffee next weekend and bring your lit book! Aside from the usual Starbucks or Panera, some great local places to check out are:
Java Joint on Hamilton in Trexlertown
Java Good Day Cafe in East Greenville, right on Main Street!
3 Men and a Bagel is always a viable option.
Baked on Main St in Emmaus
Sweet Memories in Emmaus, Cutest bakery ever - good coffee too! Be sure to check out the upstairs shop.
& of course, East Penn Diner… duh.
The Promenade Shops makes it easy to hit up the new movie, Goosebumps, and grab some grub afterward while browsing books at the Starbucks in Barnes and Noble. Although if you see Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, with each scare, you can use it to your advantage and squeeze his hand a little harder!
Come up with a cute and clever Halloween costume idea for the both of you, such as two of the main characters from your favorite show and go trick-or-treating! (“Yes 16 year olds still dress up for Halloween. Gosh mom…”)
Perfect group date: Grab some friends and your crush to hit up Field of Screams in Mountville, PA. What better way to get to know each other than finding yourselves lost in a haunted corn maze or house!
As the leaves change color, see from a better view by hiking one of the trails at Bear Creek Resort, The Pinnacle, or Bake Oven Knob. If you’re not much of a hiker, exploring the Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, in Emmaus, or Lockridge Park, in Alburtis, would be fun too!
