New Year, New Me: Friend or Foe?
Olivia Christman, Freshman

Everyone knows the saying new year new me, but not a lot of people who use it, actually live up to the expectation. Whether you are looking to start going to a gym, eat healthier, or cut down on your spending, the main thing you need to have is motivation. If you have no motivation, you’ll never be able to live up to what you want to do. Those typical goals everyone wants to accomplish could take a costly or emotional toll on you. You don’t completely need to change yourself. Some positive goals are to try to be a better person, learn a new language, be happier and start everyday with a smile, travel more, or influence the world in a positive way. Starting a new year can be like a fresh start, and if you start it by making a goal that is hard to accomplish or typical, you might not have much motivation.

If in the past year you have been grumpy or just having bad days are your normal, starting your day off right is essential. Starting with a smile or a new goal for the day is an amazing way to achieve what you want done. So everyone should lay off the new year new me motto, when they don’t even peruse it. Don’t be that person that overuses it and changes one small thing about themselves.
