Brighten the Bad Times

Brighten the Bad Times

Liana Lichter, 11th grade

At this point in the year, it seems like everything is on replay over and over again. Same routine, same classes, and same cold weather. I’ve been starting to find myself feeling down and bored lately and found a lot of my friends feeling the same way too. During times like these it is important to help yourself and try to pull yourself out of the sad slump. Over the past couple months I’ve discovered a few ways to bring myself happiness and keep a smile on my face.

A simple and easy thing that has a huge impact on my day is keeping my room clean and organized. Every morning before I leave the house, I try to make my bed and pick my items up off the floor. Knowing that you can come home to a nice clean room after a long day at school gives you something to look forward to. With spring right around the corner, it might be a good time to organize your closets to. Donate the clothes you don’t wear to those in need. It will make their day brighter as well as make you feel good about it.

Another way to keep yourself from getting down is staying busy. There are many ways to stay busy but applying for a job and receiving it is a great idea. Having a job will give you something to do. You can make money, and make new friends with coworkers. Another way to keep yourself busy is finding a hobby. Some ideas could be working out, joining clubs at school, or taking music lessons.

Lastly, the best way to stay happy is to take care of yourself. Maintaining good hygiene and eating healthy is so important. Filling your body with fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants will give you lots of energy and make you feel good! Pampering yourself can turn also turn any bad day around. Paint your nails a pretty color, do a face mask, or take a long shower.

Loving yourself and putting your happiness first are the main aspects for living a happy, healthy life. Whatever you are facing right now, you will get through it. Bad days don’t last forever, there is always a chance for tomorrow. Hang in there and keep your head held high for all the things the future has in store!
