A Guide to Improving Your Spiritual Health in the New Year
Alisha Scott, Junior
Whether or not you found 2017 to be stressful and work heavy, it is always a good idea to take time for yourself and nurture your mind, body, and soul. This can be done in a number of ways, however finding a starting point is key. You will have to develop a routine that works for you, but you can begin by incorporating one of these practices into your life and watch for positive results!
Yoga is a great way to relieve tension in your muscles and clear your mind. It focuses on your breathing and gaining flexibility. Aside from the mental and spiritual benefits, effective positions can lower blood pressure and improve posture. If practiced consistently, you can live with greater awareness not only of yourself, but of your surroundings.
Aromatherapy is a form of holistic healing in which incorporates smell and touch. Essential oils are often used either through absorption into the skin or inhalation either directly or diffused. Certain scents and oils are associated with specific healing properties and mood stimulations such as anxiety and stress.
Meditation encompasses various breathing exercises which ultimately leads to an overall relaxed state of being. Find a comfortable and tranquil place to sit and close your eyes while making sure to draw your attention to a specific aspect in your life which may be troubling you. Crystals can also be incorporated into these techniques to create vibrations and deeper connections to their healing powers.
Crystals can be used to stimulate the flow of positive energy. Each crystal carries its own vibrations and emit healing properties. For example, rose quartz is associated with love and affection. They are oftentimes worn as jewelry or kept in one’s pocket as a “good luck charm”. As previously mentioned, they can be used during meditation along with cleansing or balancing your chakras. Find a crystal you vibe with and watch your negative energy vanish!
