High school is awkward, and right now is an especially awkward time of year because nobody knows what shoes to wear. It’s almost spring, but still definitely winter. And, therefore, everyday brings on a new challenge for footwear. In this transition time, winter shoes are still in, and in a few weeks the spring shoes will be as good as gold. So I’m going to give you a few ideas to spice up your sneaks, and ramp up your shoe game.

Although I have recently fallen in love with Docs, it’s kind of hard for guys to wear them as warmer weather moves in. So stick to a nice Sperry boot, or a suede chukka boot! For me, I love to wear brown boots but then again you may prefer black! This Dockyard Sport Chukka Boot is the perfect boot to wear in the transitioning months from winter to spring! These boots are available at sperrytopsider.com for a little under $100, a great price for style.

Right now it may be kind of hard to wear a boat shoe without being made fun of, but in a nice deep shade, the boat shoe suddenly becomes a perfect, all-season shoe! I know I seem in love with Sperry but, can you blame me? This Gold Cup Authentic Original Burnished Leather 2-eye Boat Shoe, has the right texture, and the coolest color to be versatile for spring, and winter! I know everyone adores the common tan boat shoe, but try something different with this one. These are also at sperrytopsider.com but can be found at other various stores-- I saw them at DSW this weekend!

In a category of its own is the myth, the legend: the chucks. I am personally a fan of the low-rise white Converse for spring, and soon white will be perfectly acceptable to wear! The white Chuck Taylor can be worn with anything from khakis to jeans! If white isn’t for you, this shoe comes in a variety of other colors including a really cool, more wearable off-white cream color. You can find these classics virtually anywhere, including Famous Footwear.

So many guys are wearing Vans now, it’s great. But I encourage everyone to stray from the path and not simply succumb to the plain white or black ones.  A nice cool Violet Tulip shade is the perfect spring shade to enhance your look. I found this shade available at 6pm.com for $32.99!
