Batty for Boots

Juliette Confer, Junior

Ah yes, fall. The season everyone looks forward to year round. Crisp autumn air, leaves falling from the trees, and, of course, PSL's (pumpkin spice lattes). *Cough cough, white girl*

As Anne of Green Gables once said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” Me too, girl, me too. As fall rolls around, I find myself wearing boots almost every day. Luckily, there are so many different styles and ways to wear them that never make your outfit look boring.

Hunter Boots, which have been around since 1856, are the only rain boots you’ll ever need. They come in both tall and short styles, in a variety of colors. The bright red are a great choice if you want a pop of color during the sometimes dreary fall months. The dark green might be what you’re looking for if, like me, you prefer a more subtle boot. A pair of skinny jeans, an oxford, and a J.Crew vest look perfect with these iconic boots.

But sometimes, rubber rain boots just aren't enough. You know those days where all you wanna do is stay in bed and watch Netflix (basically every day for me)? L. L. Bean Boots are perfect for those days. Wear them with thick wool socks, and trust me, you’ll stay warm for the entire day. Commonly referred to as duck boots, Bean Boots are basically essential since you can dress them down with leggings and a sweatshirt, or even dress them up with the right skirt and sweater.

Not every fall day is super chilly though, which is why short ankle booties are a great shoe to own. It’s definitely worth it to invest in a tan pair-- you’ll get tons of use out of them year round. I like rolling up a pair of skinny jeans and putting on a cute long sleeve with my heeled booties.

Another must for fall is a pair of edgy combat boots. I know I always feel a little bit more hardcore on the days I wear mine, (and by hardcore, I mean, like, only putting two packs of sugar in my PSL instead of 3) and they're awesome because of their versatility. If you’re feeling tough, put on a pair of black leggings and a cozy flannel with some black combats. Wear a brown pair with a pink lace dress and army green jacket if you don’t wanna look as biker-chic.

The last style of fall boots should be a staple in every girl’s closet, hands down. Riding boots are adorbs when paired with leggings, a blue oxford, and a warm vest. Add a cute statement necklace and you’re good to go! I recommend the Mila boot by Ralph Lauren, or the Eloise by Tory Burch. Though riding boots can be somewhat pricey, they’re always of high quality and will last for a long time.
