Any girl with a Pinterest has seen the perfect makeup pics, you know the ones--beautifully blended eyeshadow, crisp winged eyeliner, massive eyelashes. I saw this one look on Pinterest, created using the Naked Palette. The naive me of a couple of hours ago thought, “I own the Naked Palette! I can recreate this look! Right?” Wrong. I really did try my best, but it just came out looking nothing like the picture.
Here’s my journey of discovering that maybe someday I'll achieve perf-Pinterest-makeup status, but today is not that day.

I started by highlighting my inner corner and brow bone with Virgin, and I placed Sin, my all time favorite eyeshadow, on my inner lid.
Next I put Toasted over the rest of my eyelid, and blended Buck into my crease.
It’s when you bring out the dark colors that things get really tricky. I mixed Darkhorse with Hustle and attempted to place them in my outer crease in a V-like shape.
The fun part: eyeliner. I did my signature winged eyeliner using the Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner. I lined the outer half of my lower lash line with Hustle, and the inner half with Half Baked.
I brought some color to my face by contouring and applying blush using the Nars Bronzer/Blush Duo.
I finished it off by applying the L'Oréal Telescopic Mascara and the L'Oréal lipstick in Julianne’s Nude. So all in all, I failed to recreate the Pinterest picture. But was it all for nothing? I think I might be rocking this look despite it not being absolutely perfect.
Thanks, Pinterest, for setting the bar unrealistically high.
