Nuts for Coconuts

As “au-naturale” has been coming back into style, so has coconut oil-- a natural moisturizer. An essential oil, it is used as a base in many everyday products (conditioner, cream makeup, lotion, scrubs, hair dye, lip balm, etc). Coconut oil is healthy alternative to the sometimes harmful chemicals usually used and is now a major staple in most moisturizing products.

What if I told you there was a way to reap all the benefits of a coconut connoisseur, but at a fraction of the price?

Instead of buying all those coconut-containing faves individually, purchasing organic virgin coconut oil can save you countless dollars and hours of weaving through your local drugstore. You can have fun making everything listed above, plus more. And, I mean, what’s more fun than a beauty DIY?

Coconut oil on its own can be used as a makeup remover, applied to skin overnight as a hydrator, and if put on your cuticles, it will help grow those long, natural nails that seem to be forever in style.

Need a fall and winter moisturizer? Coconut oil is your new BFF! It soothes and fixes both those horrible chapped lips and dastardly dry legs alike-- using it during or after shaving makes your legs super soft and smooth.

How about the hair you’ve been dreaming of? Coconut oil helps promote hair growth and gets rid of unwanted split ends when put onto roots and ends of hair.

...And the one the thing we all seem to have and hate. Acne. Don’t fret though-- coconut oil is on your side yet again. It helps to get rid of acne and acne scars naturally.

If you don’t take my word for it, trust Fashiontoast blogger, Rumi Neely. Neely loves unrefined coconut oil as a makeup remover and swears by it to keep her hair and skin moisturized.

Basically, you’re nuts if you don’t go coconuts.
